college visit

Do college visits matter in the admissions process?

The answer is simple: Yes.

College visits matter. In today’s landscape, it is often difficult for colleges and universities to predict if a student is truly interested in enrolling at their institution. Many colleges are tracking how much “contact” a student has had with them. This contact could be as simple as a phone call, an email or a campus visit. This action is called “demonstrated interest,” and some institutions take this interest into account and use it to enhance a student’s financial aid award. If they know that a student is really interested, awarding some extra funding may entice students to enroll. While not all institutions engage in this practice, it does not hurt when a student demonstrates sincere interest in an institution he or she would like to attend.
